Lac Cardinal Pioneer Village Museum
The Lac Cardinal Pioneer Museum is a pioneer village that
features restored structures, artefacts, and photographs that
documents the settlement period of the west of Peace River from the
1920s to the 1940s.
The Lac Cardinal Pioneer Village Museum Society was founded in
1988 to develop the Lac Cardinal Pioneer Museum.
The work began in
1990 when the homes of Wilcox, Mowry, later the Olson, McKie, the
Strong Creek Hall, MD office, cook shack, Hasell School, Church, a
pump house and an administration building were relocated to the
museum site. The general store, blacksmith shop, and log barn are
replicas, which were built with lumber and shingles produced in a
1920s saw mill and a 100 year old shingle mill that are on site. All
the buildings have working artefacts pertaining to 1920 to 1940s
period.
The Lac Cardinal Pioneer Museum is located at Lac Cardinal (also
known as Bear Lake), next to Queen Elizabeth Park.
