  • GRIFFIN HOUSE
    John V. Griffin, a traveller for the Alberta Pacific Grain Company, was the first owner of this frame residence.

  • H.V. SHAW BUILDING
    In the days before cigarettes, cigars were big business. Harry Shaw’s Edmonton Cigar Factory was manufacturing one million cigars per year in 1908, after being open only seven years.
  • HAMILTON BLOCK
    The Hamilton Block was built in 1913 as revenue property for Clarence Hamilton.
  • HERMIT LAKE SCHOOL PIONEER MUSEUM
    On April 26, 1915, the Hermit Lake School District No. 3250 was established several miles west of Grande Prairie.
  • HIGHLANDS GOLF COURSE
    The Highlands originally had lots on the steep slope of the valley and across the flats to the river’s edge. Most were not developed however, and eventually passed to the city of Edmonton.

    The formation of the ‘Edmonton Highland School District’, actually Beverly School District #2922 was announced in September 1910, just a few days before The Highlands went on the market.

    Highlands Methodist, the first church on this site, was erected in less than two months in 1913. It was a wood frame building clad with white clapboard with no special features that showed it was a church
  • HILLCREST UNITED CHURCH
    This building was erected in 1913 by the Methodist congregation of Hillcrest.
  • HIMMELMAN CONSTRUCTION WORKSHOP AND GORDON SUITES
    In 1923 Himmelman erected a workshop to support his construction company and boat-building activities.
