  • JOSEPH LIMOGES RESIDENCE
    Joseph Limoges first came to Cochrane from Montreal but moved to "The Crossing" in 1886.
  • KNIGHT HOUSE
    This home, also known as the Old Burns House, was built in about 1890 and was owned for a time by John Stewart and then by Thomas Burns of Burns Company Limited meat packers.
  • LAND TITLES OFFICE
    In 1891, the railroad from Calgary to Edmonton was terminated on the south bank of the North Saskatchewan River, and a new community called South Edmonton was established there.
  • LETHBRIDGE HOUSE HOTEL, 1885
    The Lethbridge House Hotel was built in 1885 by William Henderson, a prominent contractor of the day.

    The histories of the Lineham Block and its neighbour, the Imperial Bank of Canada, are closely linked.
  • LOBSTICK SETTLEMENT
    A lobstick is an evergreen tree, chosen for its size and prominent or significant location – for instance on the bank of a river where there was a good crossing place – which has had all its lower limbs removed.
  • LOG BUILDING
    The Cook family had a considerable impact on the area. In early days, their home was known as a “stopping place”, where travellers could find a hospitable welcome.
  • LOUGHEED HOUSE
    The Lougheed Mansion, or “Beaulieu,” was built in 1891.
  • MANNING RESIDENCE
    The floor plan and perspective for this home appear in The Radford American Homes, a book of house plans published by the Radford Architectural Company of Riverside, Illinois, in 1903.
  • MARKERVILLE CREAMERY
    In 1899 the fortunes of the local in¬dustry changed when the federal Department of Agriculture established a number of creameries throughout the Northwest Territories in conjunc¬tion with local organizations.
