The Lemarchand Mansion is one of the most beautiful apartment buildings of its age in Edmonton. After all, René Lemarchand’s ambition was to erect an apartment building which would be “un des plus luxueux dans le genre au Canada” – one of the most luxurious of its kind in Canada. - THE LESSARD RESIDENCE

The Mountafield was built and named for Henry Mountafield, a man who led an uncommonly cosmopolitan existence. Born in England in 1867, he graduated from Portsmouth Naval Academy, and obtained a Master’s Degree from the London School of Arts. - THE O H (RIO ALTO) RANCH
D.H. Smith and Lafayette French, who had built a stopping house in 1879 at High River on the Fort Benton¬-Edmonton Trail, started the O H Ranch in 1883.
