  • ARMSTRONG BLOCK
    Reginald and Herbert Armstrong built the Armstrong Block as a speculative venture.
  • BATTERY 34
    On this site, in August 1948, Royalite Oil Company of Turner Valley pioneered the water injection technique for the enhancement of oil recovery through the raising of underground pressure in old or otherwise weak producing pools.
  • BELLEVUE MINE
    The Bellevue Mine of West Canadian Collieries went into production in 1904.

    In 1904 Alfred Jacob Weddle, blacksmith, became the first in a long series of metalworkers to have owned this property.
  • BREWERY GARDENS, 1950S
    The Brewery Gardens were largely developed by the Sick's Brewery between 1960 and 1963, but may have been started as early as 1945 or 1950.
  • CANADA CONSOLIDATED RUBBER BUILDING
    David Kerr of Victoria, B.C. built a brick warehouse on this location in 1912. It was designed by Edmonton architect Roland Lines, cost $55,000 to erect, and burned to the ground in January, 1913.

    Originally designed to bear the weight of heavy loco­motives and rolling stock, this bridge is now used by pedestrians and cyclists.

    It was the coming of the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1883 that made Medicine Hat and guaranteed its future.
  • CENTRAL ALBERTA DAIRY POOL CONDENSERY
    In 1924, the Central Alberta Dairy Pool was organized by the United Farmers of Alberta at Alix. The Pool expanded rapidly over the next decade and, in 1936, a milk condensery was built in Red Deer.
  • DIGMAN WELL NO. 1 "DISCOVERY WELL"
    Popular interest in Turner Valley's gas reserves was evident as early as 1911 when the City of Calgary attempted to stake a claim to subsurface gas and petroleum.
