BEVERIDGE BLOCK

620 Second Street, S.E., Medicine Hat
Designed By: William T. Williams
Built in 1911

Beveridge Block

The Beveridge Block is another of the many fine pre-war commercial buildings in downtown Medicine Hat to have been designed by architect William T. Williams. A three-storey brick structure with sandstone facade was erected in 1911 for John C. Beveridge who for the next thirty-nine years, until his death in 1950, was to operate Medicine Hat's most successful furniture business.

The building is distinguished by its front parapet, bracketed metal cornice, and by its three large third-floor display windows with glass brick in the transoms. The ground floor facade has undergone extensive remodelling.
