Category : Point | |
Now a railway point, it was established in 1901 and was named for A. L. Frank of Butte, Montana. He was a partner in the Canadian American Coal and Coke Company that formed to extract the area’s coal deposits. It is part of the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass and is famous for the devastating rockslide that flowed down from Turtle Mountain on April 29, 1903, taking seventy lives and destroying a portion of the town. On that day, nearly 90 million tons of limestone rock fell in about 100 seconds. |
