The name for this station, established in 1959, was selected as the Indians who were well-established in this area at the time of naming belonged to the Sarcee Tribe. The Sarcee Indians are a break-away from the Beaver Indians of the Peace River area, and are members of the Athapascan linguistic stock.

Within the city limits of Calgary.
