Aden

Category : Locality

The first postmaster, H.E. Anderson, requested that the area be called Aden, after a seaport located at the southern end of the Red Sea, in Arabia, now South Yemen. Anderson had been a sailor in the Middle East prior to emigrating to Canada to homestead. Some area residents suggested that the Grassy Butte Hills may have reminded Anderson of the coastal regions of South Yemen.

Approximately 115 km south south-west of Medicine Hat.
