Pembina River

Category : River

David Thompson wrote of it in 1810: “We went ten miles in this distance we crossed the Pembinaw River of forty yards in width.” The term may be a version of the Cree name, nîpiniminân, roughly translating to “summer berry,” referring to a variety of high bush cranberry.
