Peden's Point
Category : Point | |
Peden's Point is a point on Rocke Island at the confluence of the Athabasca and Clearwater rivers and is used as a navigational point for the Fort McMurray area. The name is for Claire Peden, the person upon whose land the point is situated. The point was known earlier as Ben Screen's Point after the man who owned the land at the time. Over the course of years; the point became known as Peden's. In keeping with the principle of official naming that required names to be in current local use,the name Peden was applied to the feature when it was officially named in 1992. |
