The
study of demographics in the petroleum industry is
important. Demographics are the study of certain
socioeconomic groups who are characterized by age,
income, sex, education, and occupation. It helps
businesses and governments assess the growth of the
industry in Canada. As economists and businesses
study the energy sectors' demographics, three trends
do emerge. One is that certain parts of the industry
have grown in the number of employed, but some have
dropped significantly. The demographic forecast has
shown an increase in the number of women working in
the petroleum industry. As the petroleum industry
grows there is an overall benefit to the Canadian
economy. All these demographic statistics give the
industry a positive outlook for continued growth.
