First People
There are four main groups of First Nations People in the Peace River country, which includes the Dunne-za (Beaver), Dene-tha (Slavey), Woodland Cree, and the Iroquois.
The Dunne-za and the Dene-tha lived in the Peace River region before the fur trade was established. The Woodland Cree and the Iroquois arrived with the fur trade.
