The Fall of Emperor Pic—People

Who were the people at the heart of the Fall of Emperor Pic? There was a highly respected police constable, a notorious bootlegger, his  female accomplice and the renowned criminal lawyer who defended them. 

Based on this profile alone it is not difficult to understand why the circumstances that surrounded the shooting of Stephen  Lawson have given rise to numerous historical and dramatic interpretations. However, a deeper look at the central characters of one of Alberta’s most dramatic murder cases reveals a great deal not only about the crime, but also about Alberta in the early decades of the 20th century, immigration and Prohibition.
