Mountain View Museum

Located at 5038-50 Street in the town of Olds, Mountain View Museum offers visitors a wealth of information and artefacts about the heritage and history of Olds. The Museum also houses the Mountain View Museum Archives, and both are operated by the Olds Historical Society.

Part of the Museum is located in the former Alberta Government telephones building, constructed in the 1920s. Exhibits at the museum include a general store, a school house, a western corner, and a homestead kitchen. Most of the objects have been donated by people in the community. School and group tours are available, and there is a research centre at the museum that is open to anyone. The Mountain View Museum also offers classes in the revival of an old craft, for example, the creation of a quilted table runner. Contact the museum for more information about these programs.

Since 2000, Mountain View Museum has been working on a project to digitize their collection of over 7,000 objects. Their website offers a collection called Mountain View Museum Dolls, an extensive gallery of dolls from all eras. Visitors to the museum site can also try the Museum Scavenger Hunt, an online game in the homestead kitchen.
