Fort Ostell Museum

The Fort Ostell Museum is located at Centennial Park, Ponoka, just off highway 2A.The museum is dedicated to preserving the heritage of Ponoka, including its rich natural and human history. The collection at the museum includes local historical artefacts and memorabilia from the early 1900’s, including a country store, classroom, and child’s bedroom. Agricultural and aboriginal artefacts are also on display. “The History of the Care of the Mentally Ill in Alberta” exhibit is one of Canada’s few collections with objects from a mental hospital. It traces the history of the treatment of mentally ill patients from 1911 to the present.

The Fort Ostell Museum offers tours as well as summer programs for children. Contact the museum for more information

Tuesday – Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Sunday, Holiday Mondays, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
