Alberta Central Railway Museum

country station

The Alberta Central Railway Museum is located in the country just southeast of Wetaskiwin. The museum is dedicated to preserving the pre-1965 heritage of the railways. Visitors to the site can enjoy a ride on a restored 1926 first class observation- buffet sleeper Mount Avalanche train. There is also a typical country railway station with a waiting room, baggage room, and telegraph office. Along with a collection of Canadian Pacific Railway artefacts, the museum also has the second oldest standing grain elevator in Alberta on its site, so that visitors can learn about the interaction between the railway and the grain elevators.

Numerous special events are held at the museum, including Alberta Central Railway Day, which includes a free pancake breakfast with admission.
