Wasyl Eleniak was one of the first Ukrainians to make Canada his home. He came to Canada, from the Ukraine (a European country), in 1891 to start a better life. He had heard that in Canada people were getting free land to live on and farm. He worked hard to save money so that he could bring the rest of his family to Canada.
