As the community prospered, people moved away from the inner city and there are fewer and fewer of these gardens visible.  The gardening continues in suburban locations now a part of a national trend fostered by television and magazines fostering cocooning.  A display of traditional crafts of the Calabria Region of Italy is presented at the Italian pavilion during Edmonton's Heritage Days, 2002. Perhaps the discovery of regional Italian cookery by North American chefs will help to preserve those food traditions in North America's immigrant communities.  But community members who watch these performances, remain purists at heart.  The old ways, preferably learned at the knees of grandmother or mother, are the best.
