Category : City

A Dominion telegraph office was established here in 1890 at about the same time the C&E; built a station. The name commemorates Father Hippolyte Leduc, OMI (1842–1918), who came west in 1865 and in 1867 went to St. Albert and Edmonton. His other ministries brought him to Calgary and Lac Brochet. Leduc was incorporated as a village in 1899 and a town in 1906. In 1983 it was formed into a city.
